Director of HR and Organisational Development

Manchester City Council
Location
Manchester, Greater Manchester
Salary

Our city and our Council are absolutely synonymous with spirit, ambition and character – mixing northern warmth with a touch of grit. We are proud of the city’s rich and diverse postindustrial transformational change.

We share a strong sense of our history, Manchester’s innovative evolution and the way we have helped promote groundbreaking thought leadership.

We want to build on that legacy – carving a reputation for delivering services which meet the changing needs of our resident population. We’ve also developed an enviable reputation as a leader for local government devolution.

We’re at the forefront of the new thinking to integrate a range of public services, working collaboratively with our health partners to combine health and social care, to improve the lives of people here. We now need you to help guide and support our dedicated teams to deliver the world-class services to which we aspire.

As the new HRD you will be the central influencer and strategic driver for our people agenda. You will take immediate responsibility for ensuring that our organisation’s ambition and our people are aligned – developing an employee and industrial relations strategy to help realise our corporate vision.

In addition to bringing exemplary organisational design and strategic leadership you will also develop, grow and encourage a capable and ambitious team who are well-placed to implement your new HR strategy across the wider business.

If you can bring experience of leading successful and inclusive change and transformational programmes through partnership and collaboration, in a complex or large-scale setting, we’d like to hear from you.

We are also looking for someone who can be a true ambassador for the reputation of our HROD Service both internally and externally, as part of our growing partnerships and role in stakeholder groups supporting regional and national policy and strategy.
