Imagine a better future for Ealing – and all its residents

There’s fantastic opportunity for growth within the borough of Ealing. From inward investment projects to Crossrail and HS2, there’s so much to explore and develop. However, to achieve

this growth and to ensure our residents benefit and thrive, we need to lead the plans and projects. That’s exactly what you’ll do as Assistant Director for Economic Growth. It’s all about creating a vision for long-term change that you’ll deliver through inspiring regeneration and development programmes.

This is a brand-new role for a leader who’ll be an ambassador for a borough: an expert who can design an inward investment strategy and enable investors see Ealing’s full potential. To succeed, you must have the experience and imagination to shape our borough and its infrastructure, through well planned regeneration, transport and housing programmes. Whatever the project, you’ll understand how it benefits communities, supporting their wellbeing and creating a better future.

There’s no doubt that your work will involve complex areas, for example, funding and planning in a crowded London borough. Strong partnerships will therefore be crucial as you strive for your goals, and you’ll need to connect with everyone from TfL and local businesses to the GLA. With solid relationships, you can achieve your aims, securing funding, influencing policy and winning vital support.

Extensive experience is absolutely essential. You must know how to prepare and deliver on strategic plans for place-making, economic growth and regeneration. You must also know how to deliver major projects successfully, all while managing teams and high-performing services.

In-depth knowledge of regeneration and development will be vital – however, it’s not enough. You also need to understand the role of the public sector in enabling economic growth. You’ll use this knowledge to win the trust of stakeholders from developers to residents, drawing on strong communication skills and a joined-up approach.
