Salary

We want Hammersmith & Fulham to be the best place anywhere to be a Children’s Services Director. We believe our children and families deserve to have a council that is genuinely on their side. We’ve made great progress and are looking to appoint a permanent Children’s Services Director to take our vision forward.

Doing things differently

We’re looking for someone who shares our belief that compassion and effectiveness are the crucial factors that will deliver ever- improving services our children and their families deserve.

We strive to be efficient, so we can be more compassionate – stripping out waste so that we can afford to do more. With strong foundations in place, excellent attainment in our schools and very good Ofsted reports (SEND and Care Leavers), the size and scope of this role is about innovating and further refining our joined-up, child-focussed services. There are, of course, many challenges for our young people too. So, you’ll need to take a robust lead on issues such as gangs, knife crime and social exclusion.

Shared prosperity and ambition for all

We want prosperity to be shared by everyone - a borough where no-one is left behind, excluded or pushed out. That’s why we launched the UK’s first industrial strategy in a generation – designed to give our local children the best access to new careers and start-up opportunities in STEM and creative industries and building our borough up to be a global economic hotspot.

We’re pioneering new policies on child poverty, disabled young people, and looked after children. We’re investing more in our family centres, schools and youth clubs. And we’ve taken more child refugees than any other council in the country - with our wonderful social workers taking a lead in the fight for those children’s rights.

We want a Children’s Services Director who shares our ambitions and will work with us to give the residents of Hammersmith & Fulham the most outstanding services.

This is no ordinary role, but Hammersmith & Fulham is no ordinary place.
