Lancaster is the county town of Lancashire and is at the heart of one of the fastest growing economic regions in the UK. The district is ambitious and is at the forefront of innovation and growth. It boasts a rich portfolio of assets stretching out across the stunning coastal landscape of Morecambe Bay and two areas of outstanding natural beauty, with unique historic landmarks such as Lancaster Castle, which is still in the possession of the Queen, as the Duke of Lancaster.

Lancaster is one of England’s most vibrant historic cities, where culture and heritage captivate and inspire visitors. The proposed prospect of the Eden Project North in Morecambe only adds to the momentum building in the region. It has world class universities within its boundaries, boasts excellent transport links and a growing digital sector. The district is one that looks to the future, yet is proud of its heritage.

Given our highly ambitious plans to enhance the economy, the environment, neighbourhoods and the wellbeing of our communities, there’s never been a better or more exciting time to join us in this pivotal role and lead the delivery of our vision for the district, enabling it to thrive as a vibrant regional centre in the north west of England.

This role requires someone who is able to demonstrate exemplary collaborative and partnership working skills to secure the confidence of our diverse stakeholder community. You will be a leading voice for our community and region, maximising Lancaster’s place as we take advantage of the wealth of opportunities on offer across the region.

You will be adept at building strong team and working relationships and will show a real passion and affinity with our principles of Community Leadership, Place Shaping, Professionalism and Valuing Distinctiveness, to drive our exciting commercial and regeneration initiatives and build a highly skilled and resilient workforce. Politically savvy, you will be able to lead and engage our council through the next phase of exciting developments.
