The Role

Cheshire East is an amazing place to live and work and where we are able to offer you a wide range of both challenging and rewarding career development opportunities. At Cheshire East Council we are working for a brighter future – together and our commitment to you is that our workplace culture will provide a shared purpose, be well-led, with valued people succeeding together as one team and one council to deliver the best service for our customers and communities.

Join us, as we take the next step in our journey to build a brighter future together. As Head of Early Help, you’ll make sure we step in to assist families before they need statutory services. Through evidence-based models of intervention and prevention, you’ll help make families more resilient, so children and young people get a good start and achieve their full potential.

Creating integrated working arrangements, you’ll cover three localities, ensuring clear early intervention pathways are developed and implemented. With the help of multiple partners, you’ll provide high quality children’s centres and early years settings, as well as family support and youth provision. To achieve your aims, you’ll need to manage and inspire a skilled and dedicated workforce. Together, you’ll give families every chance to thrive.

An experienced senior manager within Early Help services you’ll have led teams to improve outcomes and deliver outstanding results. You therefore know how to manage performance, resources and partnerships, while translating good practice into service transformation. A real understanding of best practice and the political landscape means you come with credibility; but it’s your enthusiasm and vision that helps you command confidence. Good with people and a natural team player, you’re adept at networking and solving problems through collaboration.

We’re committed to “working for a brighter future together” – and we expect you to be too. Through teamwork, we’re creating a better Cheshire East for all. If you have the ambition, passion and drive, share your expertise with us and we will provide you with the opportunity to influence, develop and grow with an exceptional team.

Company

As a low cost, high performing local authority, Cheshire East Council is responsible for providing more than 500 local public services to over 378,000 residents.

We employ around 3,500 staff and they are our most important asset. Getting our organisational culture right has been a real focus for us over the last two years.

In 2017 the council asked the LGA to undertake a review of workplace culture. We've addressed the recommendations of that review through a comprehensive, organisation-wide programme. We now have a clear vision for the workplace, a set of values and behaviours and an employee deal that have been agreed by staff and members across the organisation.

Our organisation is financially independent and we have a particular focus on enabling residents and communities to become more self-sufficient.

“Working for a brighter future together” is our promise and speaks about our ambitions and our hopes, and those we share with our communities and partners. Our priorities are shaped by a clear vision for our organisation and Cheshire East the place and set out in our Corporate Plan and our strategies for people and place services.

Our journey continues to ensure that Cheshire East Council is a great place to work, where staff are well led, feel valued, have a shared purpose and succeed together.

Leader of Cheshire East Council
Councillor Rachel Bailey

We are an aspiring, high performing organisation which seizes opportunities for the benefit of all our residents, businesses and visitors. We have an ambitious corporate plan, a thriving economy, beautiful surroundings and close network with our partners to enable the absolute delivery of successful outcomes for our local authority.

We are on a journey and understand there will be many challenges along the way. But if you are successful at securing one of these exciting roles, you will be given an unparalleled platform, to be part of our new vision and help shape our plans – working for an even brighter future together.
