Group Manager – Neighbourhood Services

Employer
Colchester Borough Council
Location
Colchester, Essex
Salary
up to £69,192
Closing date
23 Apr 2019

We have brought together some of the most visible and high-profile operational services to create our Neighbourhoods Service and are looking for a Group Manager to lead it. This is a new and exciting leadership role providing an excellent opportunity to make your mark and shape the service. You would take on leadership of a newly formed management team and would play a key role in managing the change associated with the creation of an integrated service.

Through your leadership, you will ensure the effective delivery of a broad range of front-line Environmental Services including Refuse and Recycling Collections, Parks and Open Spaces, Street Cleansing and Street Enforcement. These are provided through a mixture of in-house delivery and external contracts. You will also drive significant projects, including a £1million pound refurbishment of the offices and facilities where most of these services are operated from. The breadth and level of the role would provide a perfect springboard for a future career at Senior Management Team level.

Who we are looking for?

You will be an established manager with significant experience in leading large operational services. You may not have detailed technical knowledge of any of the services provided, but you will have excellent leadership skills. The breadth and size of services you will lead will require an ability to maintain a strategic oversight whilst being able to recognise when to get more involved in detail.  You will have proven ability to engage with and inspire staff at all levels and will be able to effectively lead and manage significant change. You will also have excellent political awareness.

If this sounds like you and you want to lead an exciting new service, please send your CV and a personal statement of no more than 4 sides of A4 explaining how you meet the requirements of the role.

For an informal chat about the role please call Richard Block, Assistant Director - Environment on 01206580300.

The closing date for applications is 9:00AM on 23 April 2019.

Shortlisting will be completed by 26 April 2019.

Interviews will be held on 1 May 2019.
