Lead the creation of a Procurement centre of excellence There’s fresh focus and momentum in Brent; from wide-scale regeneration to becoming the 2020 Borough of Culture, the Council is transforming. Exciting opportunities now exist in Procurement, the importance of which cannot be understated as we build greater capacity in-house with you at the helm.

Your role You’ll be the lead for the Council in Procurement, developing the Procurement strategy and influencing the organization’s £220m third party expenditure. While working closely as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive and other senior Council leaders including Cabinet, you’ll get support all the way from the top. Your role will also involve being an effective ambassador and advocate representing the Council with Government departments, GLA and other partner organisations.

We plan to recruit a team of up to 12 people across disciplines such as category management, business partners, Procurement managers and analysts; we anticipate that you will input to this recruitment.

Your profile You’ll have senior management experience, credible to lead the team and to establish a centre of excellence that will be envied by all around. You’ll bring knowledge of the commercial environment in large complex organizations with a focus on delivering high quality services to their customers.

It’s desirable that you have an understanding of public sector Procurement and regulatory constraints but to be clear we’re keen to hear from you whether you come from the private or the public sector.
