We’re seeking an experienced and highly motivated service manager to lead the delivery of high quality Business and Consumer focused regulatory services. You will oversee the delivery of responsive, pest practice / outcome based statutory services such as Health and Safety, Licensing and Trading Standards. The post holder will use their detailed knowledge of the regulatory framework in order to develop an innovative approach towards the delivery of high profile regulatory services, with a strong emphasis on delivering positive outcomes on behalf of Camden’s citizens, businesses and visitors.

You will be responsible for developing council policy across a wide ranging portfolio of services and will engage directly with an equally wide range of elected members, partner organisations and business representative bodies.

The post-holder will be required to play an active role in supporting the professional development of line managed employees across the relevant services and oversee the production of service / performance plans which align with the strategic aspirations outlined within the Our Camden plan.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll demonstrate excellence in customer care and understanding of the role of local government in supporting residents and businesses to access high quality services.

You’ll confidently use data to inform strategic decision making, being able to present data with commentary in a clear and concise manner. Alongside this, you’ll have experience of budget management and service improvement to deliver service objectives, as well as income maximisation in a high quality effective manner.

You will have good knowledge/understanding of the relevant legislative framework and regulations for Health and Safety, Licensing and Trading Standards, in order to:  

  • Lead on Identification and delivery of innovative improvements in service delivery.
  • Prepare and write clear reports and documentation relevant to legislation.
  • Effectively monitor and prepare reports on the effectiveness of all teams across the service.
