Since the launch of our City Centre Master Plan in 2012, we have secured over £1.9 billion of new investment into the city, unemployment has been cut to just 1.5%, and over 4,000 new homes have been built or have planning consent. In just five years we have cemented our position as the economic powerhouse of the south coast and created new training and job opportunities for over 10,000 residents. We are expanding our Economic Development and Skills team to further drive this programme of growth, investment and improvement and wish to recruit talented and experienced individuals to play key roles in taking forward a number of exciting projects.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Economic Development Operations Manager to join the Growth team in Southampton City Council.

You will have good leadership skills, with experience of working with business leaders, universities and industry bodies to develop solutions on a range of issues of importance to the council and the business community. You will work closely with the Service Manager for Economic Development and will manage two staff members within the team and oversee the development of a major investment of the City Council in the new Network co-working space.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the different methods and role of communications in promoting Southampton and economic development services, they will possess excellent communication skills both orally and in writing and they will be computer literate in use of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

To be successful in the role you will be an experienced professional, of degree or Masters level calibre, with high level analytical, communication and numerical skills.
