At Kingston, we are passionate about our Royal Borough and our communities that make it a great place to live, work, study or visit.

Our intention is to be a Council that embraces our rich heritage whilst moving forward. This is a new era for the Council, with a new administration, and we are redefining the relationships we have with our residents, community groups, businesses, voluntary sector and central government agencies.

We want to be known as a Council that is an exemplar for citizen engagement with high quality, well designed and sustainable development. Whoever is appointed to these roles will help to strengthen our profile nationally and internationally whilst ensuring Kingston’s many communities are fully engaged and receive consistently high-quality services.

Kingston is uniquely placed to provide the best of all worlds, sitting in London, but with Surrey and Royal Parks on our doorstep.

Train service connectivity is good, but Crossrail 2 will further improve Kingston’s travel links in the future. Infrastructure improvements will be vital for any future developments, as Kingston looks to be less reliant on car-ownership.

This role is critical to ensuring we capture local benefit for our residents and businesses of future projects, be they new housing or potential infrastructure improvements.

You will be expected to lead the development of our Local Plan, ensure all our development is underpinned by our principles of community engagement, sustainability and high quality design.

Leading a professional planning service that is central to achieving our ambitions, you will be critical to ensuring our key sites deliver optimum benefits for Kingston.

To be successful in this post, you will need to have a strong strategic grasp, experience of leading within a complex organisation and a strong ambition to deliver services differently, putting residents at the heart of decision making.
