Full time

Tower Hamlets offers the best of London in one borough. Sitting at the heart of the UK economy we offer some of the capital’s biggest attractions and one of the country’s most culturally rich populations.

Our borough mixes the ever expanding Canary Wharf and City fringe with independent traders in our colourful high streets and markets such as Shoreditch and Whitechapel Road. Every day thousands of tourists come to see major attractions including Tower Bridge, Brick Lane and award winning open spaces such as Victoria Park.

Change is happening at a faster rate than at any time in our history. We are seeing a rapid expansion in the number of homes and jobs along with a growing population which is one of the youngest in the country.

As a result, we are transforming the way the council delivers services to work with our partners and new technology to change more lives for the better. We know that there is more that we can still achieve and we aim to be one of the cleanest, safest and most accessible boroughs in London. This senior role will be integral in accelerating our progress, so that we can continue to make a visible difference both now, and in the future.

You will provide the strategic direction, corporate leadership and advice /challenge on all matters relating to the public realm. It is a role with high visibility, with areas of responsibility that impact directly on life in the Borough. Leading a large team, with a diverse range of complex partnerships to meet the needs of our residents, you must be focused on service delivery and dedicated to driving change to produce real results. A customer-centric vision is vital, with significant experience of delivering across a breadth of ‘place services’ for a large, high profile organisation.
