Raise standards. Build aspirations. Drive achievement.

Our drive to transform educational services has brought some great results. But we’re determined keep improving until there’s excellence across the board.

As Head of Access & Learning, you’ll be instrumental in our efforts, as you strive to ensure that every child has access to brilliant schools and a high quality education.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a successful school-led approach.

In Oxfordshire, there’s a broad mix of school types, ranging from maintained and free schools, to academies and private institutions.

The Authority is proud to have good relationships with these schools – and you’ll need to draw on these partnerships in this key strategic role.

It’s vital that we have a good supply of diverse and successful schools available in every sector. And these institutions must offer sufficient capacity and enough places for pupils.

You’ll manage this area and organise transport and admissions too. But everything will hinge on how you develop formal collaborative governance and service delivery models.

Where necessary, you’ll deliver effective, large-scale change, working with elected Members and a wide range of partners. By improving access and broadening choice and availability, you’ll make a positive impact on rates of pupil exclusion and encourage education for all.

Used to managing school sufficiency, you’ll have worked in a large authority before. This could be a unitary or county council. Either way, you’ll have learned to handle substantial budgets and deliver strategic plans.

You’ll also have the legal and administrative experience to shape school organisation.

This expertise should come with a degree (or equivalent) and a qualification in leadership and management.

But what’s really important is a gift for working with partners. We need you to collaborate with governors, Members, dioceses and headteachers, working in unison to do our best for every learner.

If you feel you have the expertise and drive to succeed in this role, please visit http://executive.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/ for more information.

Closing date: 15 June 2018.
