We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Practitioner for Safeguarding in Adult Social Care.

As Lead Practitioner for Safeguarding, you will be involved in providing supervision for staff members.

The supervisory support can be in the form of formal supervision, informal discussion, joint working and mentoring staff with challenging safeguarding cases.

The successful applicant will have a keen interest in Safeguarding work and promoting its importance by updating the service with new research, policy and guidance.

The role will involve leading forums, such as, Safeguarding Champions Group and Making Safeguarding Personal Working Group. You will also work close colleagues in our Learning & Development Team to ensure our training offer for Safeguarding is up to date and working effectively for our staff team.

There will be an expectation for the Lead Practitioner to represent adult social care in other groups, such as, MARAC, MAPPA and High Risk Panel.

This means the post holder will have to travel offsite at times.

About You

The successful candidate will have good knowledge and experience of safeguarding, ability to mentor and facilitate training for staff.

It is essential that you demonstrate the ability to take responsibility for managing your own workload at a high standard and delivering to set deadlines, despite tight timescales and conflicting priorities.

As ‘Safeguard Lead Practitioner’ for Adult Social work practice and a member of the ASC Management Team, the post requires significant and broad experience of safeguarding in an adult social work setting.

You will have proven experience of working in a multi-agency environment.

You will have experience of building and maintaining effective work relationships at all levels internally and externally to high service standards.

You will have strong awareness and understanding of the complexities of operating in a multi-disciplinary setting and will able to focus on internal and external stakeholders, be innovative and creative, open to ideas and challenge, and committed to individual learning and development.

You will also be proficient in using Microsoft Office Packages i.e. PowerPoint and Word, Intermediate Excel. Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
