Hertsmere is located in southern Hertfordshire – we are 13 miles from Central London and within the M25. We adjoin Greater London with excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible.

The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras. The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset).

We are looking for an experienced Revenue and/or Benefits professional for this important new role.

You will be responsible for the efficient and effective operational management, service delivery and quality provision of all revenues and benefits services including the collection of around £130 million in local taxation annually and payment of around £45 million in benefits annually supporting some of the most vulnerable in our society.

You will lead on significant strategic projects in response to organisational requirements, changing legislation and service transformation.

You will be innovative and able to identify opportunities for new methods of service delivery using the latest technology to ensure proper, up to date processes, procedures and systems are in place to enhance the customer experience and meet our customer expectations.

You will have considerable technical ability and experience in Revenues and/or Benefits, preferably both, with an extensive knowledge of associated legislation and case law and membership of the IRRV.

You must possess a proven record of staff and change management, budgetary experience and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
