Principal Licensing Officer
The current salary grade for this post is: £26,822 – £31,601 per annum, (Grade 5, SCP 30 - 36)* (the successful applicant will become our Licensing Manager progressing to salary £31,601 - £36,379 (Grade 6 SCP 36-41 upon satisfactory completion of probationary period and demonstrating achievement of the enhanced competencies associated with the Licensing Manager post,

We are looking for an exceptional, forward thinking and enthusiastic local authority licensing professional to join our successful and dynamic Licensing Team.
You will be operating in an area which has a fantastic historic city, coastal town and rural area of outstanding beauty, working within a highly motivated, cutting edge Public Protection service group.
This post is responsible for leading the Council’s licensing function and staff, shaping and developing our Licensing administration, providing high levels support to the Council’s licensing committees, and supporting wider Public Protection objectives.

We are seeking a Licensing Manager and realise that having a rigid selection criteria can prevent experienced and ambitious licensing officers from applying.
If you lack senior Licensing management experience, but have sound Local Authority licensing knowledge and the desire to progress then we want to hear from you. In return for your drive and determination, we will provide training and mentoring to develop your management credentials.
The Principal Officer position will be a transitional position, developing into our Licensing Manager within 12 months of appointment when the post holder successfully meets the enhanced competency requirements associated with the higher grade post.
Knowledge and experience of Local Authority Licensing functions and in particular to the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Hackney Carriages, and Private Hire Licenses is essential.

This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall and the hours of work are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
