Royal Greenwich is proud to be a borough synonymous with first class modern services alongside our Maritime history, Greenwich Mean Time and Royal Status. A world heritage site, our communities remain vibrant and diverse and our elected members are ambitious to realise the potential of the borough whilst responding to our financial challenges and a growing population.  Minutes from central London, we continue to attract businesses with a new digital business district at Greenwich Peninsula alongside The O2, and our massive programme of major developments and regeneration.

Growth, progress and innovation are critical but we remain completely focused on ensuring that we meet the needs of our communities by working closely with residents, partners and businesses. Securing the very best outcomes for our children and young people remains one of our top priorities.  Performance across children’s services is consistently high but there are still challenges to tackle and opportunities to unlock.

In joining the management team of our Children’s Services department you will bring with you exceptional knowledge and skill in social work practice and a track record of high quality delivery to enhance our recently inspected ‘Good’ Service which aspires to be outstanding.   These are exciting times for Greenwich with the work of the teaching partnership with Southwark, Lewisham and Goldsmiths, the launch of our new Children and Young People’s Plan and our DfE innovation programme projects, in which you will play a key role.  You will also lead on workforce strategies for effective social work and a commitment to practice approaches that make a real difference to families, build on family strengths and resilience, achieving a shift change that will enable more children to remain safely with their families.

To be successful in this post you will bring a demonstrable track record of success and the desire to play a key role in the future of a truly unique and exciting London borough.
