Kirklees is firmly focused on the future. Our vision is to create a district with a strong, sustainable economy that offers a great quality of life to its residents - leading to thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity and low inequality, and where people enjoy better health throughout their lives.

We are currently looking to recruit a new Strategic Director to join our top team and lead our Economy and Infrastructure function, which covers a wide array of vital services including economic development and regeneration, assets planning, culture and front line services such as waste and street scene.

The successful candidate will arrive at a hugely exciting time for Kirklees – with a new Chief Executive in place, we are determined to reshape the organisation and seize the opportunities ahead.

The Kirklees economy is worth over £6bn, and situated within the Leeds City Region where GVA is £62bn we are part of the largest economy outside of London and the South East.

We are also well placed at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse with easy access to South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.

In addition to our growth and jobs agenda, we are also focused on developing new models of service delivery whilst maintaining the high quality that residents rightly expect. Candidates will need senior experience and a successful track record in one or more of the service areas within the function, as well as the ability to develop our ‘commissioning for outcomes’ agenda.

Just as important will be your values, attitude and approach, and the ability to work collaboratively with politicians, colleagues, partners and local businesses to ensure that our residents receive the best possible life chances and excellent services.

Closing date: 25 September 2017.
