North Hertfordshire has a great deal to offer. 96% of our residents tell us that they are happy living here and 83% are satisfied with the way the council runs things.

We want to do even better, and our new Deputy Chief Executive will play a vital role in building on good practice that is already in place, and exploring opportunities for innovation and improvement, within the council and with our partners.

You’ll work closely with our Chief Executive and elected members to develop and implement policy, and take the lead on a range of strategic projects.

This is a leadership role that will touch on all aspects of the council’s work, so the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues across different service areas is vital.

You’ll ensure that corporate and strategic ambitions are clearly understood by all and successfully translated into operational delivery.

With a keen focus on managing finance, performance and customer satisfaction across all services, you’ll help to embed continuous improvement as a common objective throughout the council.

It’s a role with a broad remit, and as such we aren’t focusing on a specific professional background.

In fact, the ability to work across disciplines and enable and empower others will be key. You should offer a clear track record in leading organisational and cultural change and be able to identify measurable outcomes that you have delivered.

It’s essential that you can quickly build relationships and establish credibility and trust with all stakeholders - including staff, elected members, partner organisations and our community.

For anyone with the ambition and talent to take on a Chief Executive role, this is the ideal next move.
