Kingston and Sutton have created an ambitious Shared Environment Service for the Enforcement and Highways and Transport functions with a vision to enable the delivery of sustainable boroughs with diverse transport networks and a quality environment for all to enjoy. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new approach which is sharing services across Councils and breaking the mould of the traditional delivery model. The focus is on achieving financial savings while maintaining the quality of services and improving their sustainability. 


We need to strengthen the Highways and Transport Group with enthusiastic and talented individuals who are at the top of their game and able to provide leadership to teams.
  
The Highway Contracts and Delivery Team are one of four in the group and the Team Leader role is therefore key to the successful delivery of the shared service. The team is responsible for:-
• Delivery of planned maintenance of the Councils’ highway assets
• Procurement, contract management and administration of relevant service contracts
• Preparation of the Highways asset management strategy
• Managing the maintenance of street lighting, highway structures and water courses

About the Team Leader role
Reporting to the Group Manager and managing a team of 10 professional staff, the Team Leader must have extensive experience in the sphere of Highway Contracts and leading dynamic teams. The main aim of the role is to provide inspirational leadership, support staff and model innovation. Working across both Councils, commercial, negotiation and communication skills are also key to successfully managing and fulfilling the expectations of the service Commissioners and our key Stakeholders.


About you
You will bring with you a proven record in a leadership role; we see leadership as a mind-set and not just a role. You must be able to support and empower staff whilst also being effective in performance management with an innovative and commercial outlook which you will role model for your team. We are integrating teams and processes and you will be instrumental in supporting these changes so experience of change management will be essential. The role involves communicating effectively with members, internal and external partners. A relevant degree or professional qualification is required.
