The council is looking for a manager with a clear and proven track record of working at a senior level, preferably with significant local government experience of delivering public sector services. This is a key role within the Councils Infrastructure Service focusing on the Roads and Environmental Services areas.

You will cover a wide range of duties and responsibilities including that of the Roads Authority, including Network Management, Road Safety, Roads Asset Management and Maintenance plans, you will oversee the day to day operations of the Roads and Environmental Services teams.

This includes the “Alternate Weekly Collection” of domestic and commercial waste services. There are over 10,000 domestic properties and 1300 business premises across the Orkney Mainland and outer Islands, as well as a comprehensive recycling service and operational requirements across our cemeteries. Working with our local communities we maintain these assets to a high standard and this results in a strong national performance for our road network and general cleanliness of our urban environment.
