The Council works hard to get close to its communities to ensure their hopes and ambitions for their neighbourhoods help shape the Council’s service planning and delivery. The Council has 75 elected members, representing 46 wards, who engage closely with residents, businesses and partners to create real and valuable channels of communication.
The Council is moving to a new Operating Structure with Commissioning at its core. The approach for Highways and Environmental Maintenance activities will comprise of Commissioning, Service Delivery and Operational Delivery – the latter being delivered by our own in-house Streetscene. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead, manage and develop the activities and functions of the operational Streetscene Service in order to provide the highest possible standard of public realm.
The service has recently been redesigned to deliver high quality public realm maintenance and be able to demonstrate value for money in a commercially competitive environment. The service has the autonomy to work as a “Service Provider” within the new commissioning model.
Reporting into the Senior Manager – Highways and Environmental Services, you will provide clear and effective operational leadership delivering effective, efficient and safe services for the people of Cheshire West and Chester and the wider community, in accordance with Council policies and resources, legislative requirements and best practice. You will have a proven track record of leadership at a senior level in a Streetscene-related role within a local authority or similar organisation.
Substantial experience of leading in the formulation and delivery of Streetscene Services, including strategy, service objectives, and policies within a large, multi-disciplined organisation, and strong commercial acumen is a must.
