The Role
Stockport is an ambitious Borough implementing a complex and exciting transformational programme to radically reshape service delivery. We are taking a lead, collaborating with Partners and utilising Digital to provide exceptional services to all our communities. We are determined to reshape Stockport to reposition ourselves as an international Borough, which is evidenced by our commitment to a multifaceted regeneration programme including the dedication of £900 million to Town Centre redevelopment, as well as significant transport infrastructure renewal. In addition, we seek to maximise our assets and trade services in order to be completely self-financing by 2020.
In this new role of Service Director you will be pivotal in shaping the implementation of this ambitious vision, developing and driving the implementation of robust and effective strategic planning and commissioning strategies. You will drive a strategy that make sure we get the most value from our resource.
You will have a demonstrable understanding of a commissioning approach, including within the health and social care landscape and the corresponding knowledge of key legislation. You will know and understand the benefits and impact of devolution on a greater Manchester basis as well as locally.
You will need to have significant experience of robust contract and performance management and with responsibility for developing provider markets you will help ensure that the Council commissions and decommission services appropriately in order to improve outcomes for Stockport’s residents.
This is a key role for the Council and in a senior leadership role you will be required to steer the development and delivery of major change projects. This requires an individual who is a highly skilled communicator who thrives in a complex, networked and political environment, and has the personal credibility to actively drive service improvement based on robust business intelligence.
