With a thriving cultural scene and competitive economy, our borough has always stood out from the crowd. Our council is just as unique, with a vision that places residents at the heart of progress. Our commitment to fairness and innovation has led to some very exciting developments – and there are many more to come. Help us realise our vision and make positive change happen.

As Chief Officer for Safer Neighbourhoods & Regulatory Services, you’ll oversee areas that are critical to our ambitions, including Environmental Health, Licensing, Trading Standards & Building Control, Community Safety and Emergency Planning. You’ll make sure every service performs at its very best, whether it’s delivered directly or through one of our partners. You’ll also take charge of strategy for your area, presenting policy options to senior figures and informing key decisions. Good relationships will be crucial, both with internal services and outside bodies and partners. With inspirational leadership, you’ll develop teams and managers whilst creating well-integrated services. At the same time, you’ll look for commercial opportunities that will help generate income: here, we have a ruthless focus on financial efficiency.

A skilled strategic leader who’s committed to improving public services, you’ll bring a qualification that’s relevant to your area. This will help you act as the nominated statutory officer for any of the services in your portfolio, while giving you the gravitas to win respect at every level. It’s important that you can work with a wide range of people, including Members, so you should be articulate, collaborative and aware of the political landscape. Through teamwork and your proven ability to deliver transformation, you’ll bring reform and modernisation that benefits our residents.
