Corporate Director – Finance & Resources
Worcester City Council is building a successful future on 2,000 years of history, visualising a prosperous, accessible, diverse and inclusive city with people and communities as the central focus of the council’s plans. By 2021 the council wants Worcester to be recognised as a growing cosmopolitan cathedral and University City with unrivalled heritage.
As the Council’s Chief Financial Officer (S.151), undertaking a key role in the Council’s Corporate Leadership Team, you will identify, develop and direct the implementation of the Council’s strategy, working closely with Members and the Managing Director, in order to deliver outcomes from the City Plan, Excellence Business Plan and Medium Term Financial Plan. Responsibility will include the maintenance and development of strong financial management across the Council, underpinned by effective financial controls. You will maximise the use of the Council’s resources to help it achieve its transformation change requirements and ambitious development plans, planning and directing the Council’s activities to achieve targets and standards for financial and service performance, risk, culture and legislative adherence.
You will need to demonstrate significant experience of leading the finance function for an organisation of comparable scope and complexity, successfully managing large budgets and competing priorities, while working as a member of the corporate management team.
